Most of what you'll read in the next few paragraphs is a tad, well, gloomy. While I
make no apologies for it, I happen to believe that life for many of us is pretty
gloomy right at the moment. How many of you have to consume anti-depressants or
a host of other pharmaceuticals in order to make it through a day? One of the
main reasons for that is our inability to cope with everyday life. Sound familiar?
Well, let me
tell you, my friend, you're not alone.
For years I chased after the infamous "Golden Goose" which ALL good American Boys
are supposed to do. I devoted wayyyy too much of my life to the pursuit of
Corporate Happine$$ and it chewed me up, destroyed my health and then spit me out
when the ladder-climbers decided that I was no longer needed.
For many of us living here in the Southern Tier of NY, it's a VERY familiar story.
Fortunately, I'm a guy with many talents and the ability to use the training I
received in the Land of Big Business to help those in "small business".
I'm now enjoying life in a major way.....but it took a bit of time to recover.
Rather than allowing myself to see the real beauty in life and in the world
around me, I gave up my music-making, my pursuit of happiness and many other
things and people who were dear to me. I'll not make a costly mistake like that again.
The good news is that bad memories
fade........and life allows you to heal and progress--to move on and to
realize that HELPING people is much more rewarding than greed-driven financial
gain at the expense of those who can't afford the fight. This portion of the site is here to
offer help to others who feel that they'd like to live on a more peaceful planet
and leave it in better shape for their children.
The Killing of America
As we continue to tear down America, burying its farmlands
and the folks who work them, perhaps it's time to take a look at other parts of
the BIG picture. Why is it that we
do away with so many other species of animals that have managed to survive for
thousands of years
before falling prey to man's greatest need, the desire to kill----just because he
can produce the weapons to do so. And then we have the nerve to call this twisted
activity SPORT in order to rationalize it?!?
Ever see a wolf in the wild? How about a moose? There are just two examples of
creatures that are so rare that most of us will never have the opportunity to
see them and yet, should you have the money, the desire or the connections, you
can find and take the life away from the few that are left with the simple snap
of a trigger while you sit safely--a half a mile away from your victim!
Something is terribly wrong with this picture.
It hurts me to think that our children
won't have the opportunities to share this great planet with animals that were
here but a single generation before. That thought bothers MANY of you, but do
you do anything about it or do you sit back and accept it, thinking that a
single voice in a crowd can't make a difference? I can assure you, it can. :^>)
Here's a single voice that takes more crap than you can imagine. But, I keep doing everything
that I can to educate. Why? Because I feel very strongly that
mankind has progressed to the point of no longer needing assault weapons in the hands of
its populous.
Greed--The NEW American
Character Trait???
While you've read my feelings on weapons, make no mistake, a
briefcase can be just as deadly. As we terminate our working class and Corporate
America sends all of our jobs
to foreign lands, shall we continue to put up Convenience Stores on EVERY street
corner and become a society of Mall Rats? I don't believe that we
realize what we're tossing aside---we're too busy trying to keep our heads above
water. One look at a barn like the one
on my home page brings you
and I
comfort, does it not? And look again, there's no drive-up window!
It reminds me of times gone by---times when Americans cared about one
another, helped their neighbors through good times and bad, loved the land
that surrounded them and sustained their REAL needs in life. I've never yet seen a mall that does the same thing.
Can one person do anything to stop what's
happening to us? Perhaps
not, but if enough of us get in the way of developers, corrupt politicians,
criminals, and other destroyers of life and our environment, perhaps we
can slow the process down a bit. We can hope that some of them will, eventually, see
the light.....before it's too late.
The tune below was written by Peter Gabriel
and tells the tale of a man who found that his "situation" in life had
changed, drastically. He suddenly found himself "unemployed"....sound
familiar??
The words in white
are HIS words, those in gold are spoken by the woman who loves him, realizes
what he's dealing with, and stays by his side, reassuring him that a man's
stature is NOT measured by WHAT he his, but rather by WHO he is. There's a BIG
difference, and, as usual, it's been my experience that women tend to deal with
the changes in life far better than we males do. :^>)
"Don't Give Up"
In this proud land we grew up strong
we were wanted all along
I was taught to fight, taught to win
I never thought I could fail
No fight left or so it seems
I am a man whose dreams have all deserted
I've changed my face, I've changed my name
but no one wants you when you lose
Don't give up
'cause you have friends
Don't give up
you're not beaten yet
Don't give up
I know you can make it good
Though I saw it all around
never thought I could be affected
Thought that we'd be the last to go
it is so strange the way things turn
Drove the night toward my home
the place that I was born, on the lakeside
As daylight broke, I saw the earth
the trees had burned down to the ground
Don't give up
you still have us
Don't give up
we don't need much of anything
Don't give up,
'cause somewhere there's a place
where we belong
Rest your head
you worry too much
It's going to be alright
When times get rough
you can fall back on us
Don't give up,
please don't give up
I got to walk out of here
I can't take anymore
Going to stand on that bridge
keep my eyes down below
Whatever may come
and whatever may go
that river's flowing
that river's flowing
Moved on to another town
tried hard to settle down
for every job, so many men
so many men no-one needs
Don't give up...
'cause you have friends
Don't give up...
you're not the only one
Don't give up...
no reason to be ashamed
Don't give up...
you still have us
Don't give up now...
we're proud of who you are
Don't give up...
you know it's never been easy
don't give up...
'cause I believe there's the a place
there's a place where we belong
