Meet Rich Briere
Feel free to browse through my blog, where I express my love for Music, Photography, Canoeing, Life as an Unwilling and Uncooperative Geezer as well as sharing some thoughts and stories that I care about. I'm all about creating a community where we can engage and inspire each other so if you have some thoughts about Life and the State of the Planet….tell me about them. Care to join me on this journey ?? Go ahead. 🍎
I’ve had this Website for YEARS and never did anything with it….not a thing.
Instead I kept hitting and re-hitting all the Social Media Sites….each time thinking things would change on them. The problem was…they all left me feeling completely empty and frustrated…..so I finally bailed. As a matter of fact I JUST Deleted my Facebook account today, Thursday July 9th, 2026 after completely and totally wasting countless hours there. Shame on me. :)
With the exception of YouTube and Instagram I’ll no longer use them and certainly won’t be returning. It’s time to move on. So……should you wish to contact me, feel free to use the info listed on the Contact page here. Will I be posting my actuall Phone Number? Nope. Nor will my Email address appear anywhere on here as SPAM makes us all Nuts and the Social Media Sites sell our contact info to Spammers.
The Contact page works just fine….give it a try if you took the time to stop by.
I’d love to hear from you. 🌞 Remember……this is a work in progress and I have NO CLUE what I’m doing…..but hopefully, I’ll learn.
Things that I Enjoy
One of the personality quirks that I enjoy about myself the most is a very real and occasionally
very Twisted sense of Humor. As an example, this guy right here.
There are times when “He Be Me~to a T” …..
The BEST Social Media move I ever made was getting rid of Facebook.
Within just a few hours of Deleting every possible Sketchy Connection to all of the Bullshit,
ADS completely Stopped clogging my Email and Texts.
My Brain immediately began to Drain and with each passing day I feel Happier about Life.
I occasionally think about adding a Twitter account but there are certain times when I’m completely unable to control my tongue and so I’ll probably wait until trump is gone in order to avoid getting arrested for verbally attacking that total douchbag in a Twitter post. #subjecttochange :)
~CANOES~
I developed a Special Place in my Heart for Canoeing when I was very young and every chance I’d get I’d head for Look Park in Florence and rent an Aluminum Tugboat which doubled as a Canoe. For the next hour I’d paddle that boat in circles around a tiny…and I DO mean Tiny…pond. Little did I know at the time that Canoes would become a major Life Force later on in my life. I’m not sure if my Tale about being Swept out to Sea was wiped out the other night when I lost an entire nights work here on the site…..but I often learn life lessons the hard way.
My first Canoe was an Old Town Tripper. Each Canoe is designed to serve a certain function and the Tripper was designed for Hunters (AKA-Suckwads to the MAX!) to toss a Moose or an Elk and enuff Gear to last two weeks into this enormous Tugboat designed and disguised as a Canoe and do THEIR thing. I knew NOTHING about Canoe designs at that time, bought one and tossed it on my Car…….Off to Maine I went….grinning all the way.
Long story short, shortly after launching in a quiet docking area I was sucked out to a VERY rough Sea, Totally out of control (No joke-Tears flowed) thought I was gonna perish and be Eaten by JAWS when a Friendly family in a large Motorboat, suitable for Sea Travel, saw my predicament, took me aboard their boat and towed my Canoe back to the Safety of Dry Land. I SERIOUSLY considered leaving that Paddle Pig 🐷 on the Shore and going home….but changed my mind and Sold it for half what I’d paid for it. #gottogetyououtofmylife

One might think that after that Horrid Experience I would have forgoten about Watersports and
taken up something safer……Bowling perhaps. 🎳
Thankfully I didn’t. I discovered Mad River Canoes…made with Care in Vermont….and fell madly in Love.
Sadly, Mad River fell victim to the rising Popularity of Kayaking and Canoes fell by the Bayside.
Sadly I recently Lost a Mad River Explorer…..my 3rd and VERY Dear to my Heart.
I still own a “Special Edition Red ‘Guide’ Model”…a Solo Canoe, and after I have some surgery done
I hope to get back on the water with that.
Ahwaga Canoe Club
That would be me in the Red Guide above along with members of the Ahwaga Canoe Club…..an Organization which Michelle and I Founded in the early 90’s and with a Boatload of Help from a Fellow by the name of Rick Marsi,….Popular Author and Newspaper Columnist, the Club took off like a Rocket 🚀 soon sporting a couple hundred active members.
As you can plainly see, after several years with Canoes being the Primary mode of Water Travel Kayaks had become the preferred mode of Water Vehicle for many members and then, years later, the handwriting was on the wall and Michelle and I left the Club which added a Board of Directors and became the
Ahwaga Canoe & Kayak Club
We, of course, wished them well and should you live in the Southern Tier of Upstate NY you might consider joining up with them. Fine Folks indeed. For some reason I’m unable to place a link to the ACKC Club but that’s why Google is our friend. :)
Wooden Canoe Heritage Association
Paddling in a Canoe made of Wood and Canvas is akin to suddenly finding yourself
seated in the Cool and Comfort of a Rolls-Royce.
Some folks Collect Stamps.
I’ve never been one of those Friggin’ Weirdos.
This is just One corner of One Room.
How many Rooms do YOU know of that
have a Single Corner?
Testing! Testing!! How many Corners make up the Average Room? YES! You Win!!! 🤣
Soooooooo …………. Climb aboard the WayBack Machine and Hit STOP when you get to the 80’s.
I have a TON of “Stuff” from my Days as a Bass Player, Manufacturers Rep and an
Artist Relations Guy…the Backstage / Crew / VIP passes you see on my briefcase reflect where I was at in the 80’s and who I was with… then….. my 13 years as a District Sales Manager at Fender…..mid 80’s to 2001. I could easily fill a UPS Truck with my “Stuff”.
I’m well aware that this section could creep you out just a tad but facts are facts. I Live alone and don’t have anyone even remotely interested in M.I. “Stuff” that I’ll be passing my Lifelong Collections, Basses, Amps, etc to.
Ya’ catchin’ my Drift here? 😎
I have these jackets……, Nashville Network Jacket and all kinds of Collectible Stuff. 12 million cables, mics, etc.
Am I GIVING this stuff away? Hell no! 🍎 Am I gonna allow it all to hit a Dumpster when I’m gone? No Way!
And without weirding you out, I was married once and own a two-banger burial plot……. which I’ll gladly fill up with
ALL this “stuff” and take it with me when I go…
in 10 or 20 YEARS! :)
